Fabricated Cable and Bolt Assembly for Industrial Scale Load Cell

Cable and Bolt Assembly

Manufactured at EMD Controls and Fabrication for a client in the industrial weighing industry, the assembly described here is designed to support a load cell in an industrial scale. The cable allows for flexible movement of the load while maintaining an accurate weight reading. Constructed from 303 stainless steel, it features dimensions of 1.25″ in length by 0.5″ in diameter. The customer specifications called for a threaded connector and the ability to install or remove the part with a standard wrench.

Primary processing, including thread cutting, drilling and reaming, took place entirely on our state-of-the-art 4 axis CNC lathe. A secondary task utilized our 50 ton ironworker with a swaging die to bond the wire rope to the upper and lower fittings as well as create flat surfaces for easy assembly to the scale with an ordinary wrench.

Numerous quality checkpoints throughout the production cycle confirmed we met the customer’s stringent requirements for dimensional accuracy to 0.00025″. The client was satisfied with every aspect of our work and continues to partner with us on challenging projects.

We manufactured these assemblies quantities of 1000 to 2500, with lead times of 2-1/2 weeks. For more information on this project, or the processes used to fabricate it, please Contact Us.
