From design to prototype in one month, this project showcases EMD Controls & Fabrication’s ability to fast track a design into product in a very short time frame. The fabrications shown were designed for use as free-standing, metal stands to support counter and to hold packaging supplies for shipping company’s retail stores. Constructed from 16 gauge A36 steel, the customer specifications called for metal fabrication with an overall size of 42″ long by 30″ wide by 32″ high. Once the prototype was approved, the plan was to powder coat the stands to match the stores’ decor.
All of the components that make up this assembly were first laser cut on our CNC fiber laser cutting machine. The parts were then finished to deburr and round the edges. Our 7 axis CNC press brake was utilized to bend the individual panels and side walls into the shapes required while maintaining a tolerance of only 1/4 degree. The parts were then welded together using our MIG welder to form the completed assembly.
We manufactured these counters as prototypes, with a lead time of 4 weeks. For more information on this project, or the processes used to fabricate it, please Contact Us.
